public art map

This map is an incomplete, ongoing documentation of all art in Louisville that meets the following criteria:

  • there is no fee to view the art
  • the art is visible from a public area
  • it is the product of a creative pursuit that contributes to the culture of the area or serves some aesthetic function

This includes the database of public art installations like the Alley Gallery from the Louisville Downtown Partnership, but also extends to projects like the Little Free Libraries and certain graffiti. Little Free Libraries are unique crafted public works that, like the bike rack sculptures, are not disqualified by their functionality; significant graffiti, like the University of Louisville I65 underpasses, fill all the criteria regardless of their legality.
